Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy can be such a special time but growing a little human can also come with it’s unique challenges. My goal when working with clients, is for them to feel deeply supported throughout their pregnancy, knowing there is someone there to help address symptoms or worries as they arise.

We have regular checkins that are specific to the trimester you are in so we can address things as they come up. I take a proactive approach to nutrient levels to help ensure you have the nourishment and reserves needed to support not only pregnancy, but also labour, birth, recovery, and postpartum.

There are also major shifts in the body and brain that occur during pregnancy which is known as Matrescence. Much like the shifts that occur during puberty or adolescence, the hormonal, emotional, and developmental transitions of pregnancy can feel deeply destabilising at times.. Learning what is happening inside your body, not just your baby’s body, can be so validating and This is something we explore and support together, alongside gentle conversations around expectations for pregnancy and postpartum, helping you move through this transitional time with greater understanding, self-compassion, and support.

Having done extra study in naturopathic pregnancy care, I am also able to offer support to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes, genitourinary infections, hyperemesis gravidarum, preterm birth and preeclampsia or, alongside other healthcare providers, manage symptoms if complications have already arisen.

Who this is for:

  • Anyone who’s newly pregnant, or at any stage.

  • Those managing symptoms like nausea, fatigue, reflux, constipation, pelvic pain or low mood.

  • Those who’ve had previous pregnancy complications or loss and want extra support and management this time.

  • First-time parents who want to feel prepared, nutritionally and emotionally.

  • Experienced parents who know how depleting pregnancy can be and want to stay well-resourced through it.

Pregnancy Supplement and Nutrition Review

$165

A focused one-off consultation to ensure your supplements and nutrient support are well matched to your pregnancy and current trimester.

Before the session you’ll complete a comprehensive pregnancy health questionnaire. I review your current supplements, diet and any relevant test results before we meet.

During the consultation we discuss:

• key nutrients for your current trimester
• adjustments to supplements if needed
• discounted practitioner-grade supplement recommendations
• any nutritional considerations for acute symptoms such as nausea, reflux or fatigue*

This session can be credited toward a pregnancy support program if you would like ongoing guidance. There is no obligation to do so however.

*If you are experiencing more complex symptoms or would like preventative support based on previous pregnancy experiences, a pregnancy support program would be more suitable.

This may include:

  • blood test review and/or referrals

  • proactive nutrient monitoring (e.g. iron, vitamin D etc)

  • Symptom management (e.g. nausea, constipation, reflux, sleep disturbances, nervous system and energy support)

  • Risk management for pregnancy complications (e.g. gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, miscarriage etc

  • Nutrition recommendations

  • Blood sugar balance

  • Herbal medicine support

  • Functional testing (where needed). e.g. gut or vaginal microbiome mapping

  • Birth preparation

The program is delivered through a mixture of online consultations, weekly text support and pre-recorded content. As pregnancy evolves from week to week, regular check-ins allow care and symptom support to be adjusted in a responsive and individualised way.

What we work on together:

First trimester (weeks 1–13). Optimising placental function in the early weeks to support the pregnancy and reduce risk of complications later in pregnancy, nutrients to support early foetal development, blood testing, miscarriage mitigation where indicated, support for nausea and vomiting, hyperemesis gravidarum, fatigue, sensitivities, and the emotional adjustment of early pregnancy. This is often the hardest trimester and the one where people feel most alone.

Second trimester (weeks 14–27). Close iron monitoring, energy support, gentle exercise, nutrition review if able to tolerate more food again, digestion, skin and sleep support. This can be the trimester where you start to feel more like yourself (if not experiencing things like hyperemesis gravidarum), and we lay the groundwork for the third.

Third trimester (weeks 28+). Birth preparation, nutrient reserves (for you and baby), pelvic floor support, and support for symptoms such as fluid retention, heartburn, and anxiety about birth.

Nutrition across all three. What your body needs shifts trimester to trimester. We make sure the basics are covered through food as much as possible without overcomplicating it.

Symptom support. Evidence-based, pregnancy-safe approaches to any discomforts you may be experiencing.

Emotional wellbeing. Pregnancy hormones, identity shifts, fear of loss, relationship changes. There is real ground to hold here.

Preparing for postpartum. The single best thing you can do for your postpartum is to prepare in pregnancy. We start that conversation well before birth and it includes topics such as food, support and expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Some are, some aren’t. I use only what is evidence-based and pregnancy-safe for your trimester. I check interactions with any medication you’re on.

  • If you’re losing weight, dehydrated or unable to function, please also speak with your midwife or GP. Hyperemesis gravidarum often needs medical care. I can support alongside that.

  • I can, provided your medical care team is in place. I communicate with them and stay firmly within my scope of practice but I can often add support alongside. There is a lot that can be done to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications if you know you are high risk early on and if complications arise there are things we can do to reduce the risk or the severity of the complication. Feel free to email me if you have questions about whether I am the right fit for you.

  • Absolutely. It is never too late to set yourself up well for birth and postpartum. We can create a custom program for you that either just includes the third trimester or it can combine the final weeks of pregnancy and the early postpartum period.

  • No. I work with clients across New Zealand via video consultation. I currently only work online.

  • This depends on your health history and goals as the program is customised to meet you and your needs. Following a Pregnancy Supplement and Nutrition Review session, if you are interested in continuing to work together I will send through a PDF outlining what the program will look like along with pricing and payment plan options.

  • That’s great! We still start with the Pregnancy Supplement and Nutrition Review session as this acts as an initial consultation and helps me create the customised program for you.

  • Naturopathic care complements conventional medical care. It does not replace it. I’ll always ask what you have in place already and work alongside that.  I’m happy to communicate with your other health providers where it’s necessary or helpful. It can be really helpful to work with a range of different medical professionals (such as GP, midwife and naturopath) as we all have different strengths.

  • You can either book a free 15 minute discovery call if you have questions you want to talk through, or if you feel ready to work together, you can enquire about a Pregnancy Review Session.
